ARLINGTON C. "ARLIE" WIEMER?From the "News Journal," Mannford, Oklahoma, December 16, 1987 Arlie Wiemer Arlington C. "Arlie" Wiemer of 118 East Wood passed away December 12, 1987 in the Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. Arlie was born August 7, 1901 near Topeka, Illinois. He was united in marriage to Miss Esther Hein on August 30, 1925 at Culbertson, Nebraska. They left the next day for Drumright. Mr. Wiemer was with the Drumright School System from 1924 to 1967 when he retired. He served as Superintendent for 19 years. He was a member of the Board of Central Oklahoma area Vo-Tech, served as Vice President of the Board from 1968 to 1985, Member of the Creek County Retired Teachers Association, Oklahoma Eeucation Association, Drumright Chamber of Commerce and had served on the Board of the Drumright Memorial Hospital. He was also a long-time member and past president of the Drumright Rotary Club and had a record of Perfect Attendance for 40 years. also a member of the First Methodist Church where he had served in a number of offices. Survivors are his wife Esther of the home; one son, Fred, of New York; one daughter, Mary Ann of Denver, Colo.; and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 15, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Tupper officiating. Pallbearers were L.D. Green, John Hopper, Weldon Jones, Tom Caldwell, Clyde Bradley and Haskell King. Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bailes Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arlie Wiemer Scholarship Fund at Drumright High School or to the Methodist Church.
