They were married in 1739 in Westerly, RI, and moved to Stonington, New London, Ct., and then to Dutchess county, NY. James served in the French and Indian war in the Great Swamp campaign of 1761 for which he recieved a land patent in the Philpse Division of Dutchess County, NY, lot #49. Children of James and Mary were the Rev. James Covey married Phebe Smith, Martha, Massa, Rachel, Benjamin married Rhoda, Walter married Sarah Hatch and Mehitable Stryker, Kingsbury married Mary Bennett, Joseph, married Martha? and Amy Wightman, Samuel married Elizabeth Knapp and Hope married Eunice Yarns. James died in 1782. |
