Dorothy Gieseke , 86, formerly of Courtland, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Luther Memorial Home in Madelia.?Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, February 9, at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland with burial in the church cemetery.?Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Thursday. ?Dorothy is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ann and Roger Poss of New Ulm; Linda Gieseke of Courtland; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sandy Gieseke of Courtland; grandchildren, Terri Smith and her husband, Corey of Comfrey, Darrin Poss of New Ulm, Jennifer Gieseke of New Ulm, Julie Braulick and her husband, Al of Courtland, Sarah Gieseke of Courtland; great-granddaughters, Vanessa Wieseler, Desieree Wieseler, Brandi Smith, Riley Gieseke; a sister, Marion Plagge of Topeka, Kansas; and nieces and nephews.?She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur Gieseke on July 31, 1995; three sisters; and three brothers.?Dorothy Alma Altmann, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Baumeister) Altmann was born on February 13, 1919, in Klossner. On June 16, 1943, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Gieseke at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Courtland Township, Nicollet County until 1979 when they retired and moved to New Ulm. She enjoyed gardening and quilting and spending time with her grandchildren. Dorothy also enjoyed volunteering her time at the Treasure Haus in New Ulm. She was a member of the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland and had been a member of the Martha Circle at church.?In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to donor's choice.
