From "St. Boniface Parish Sesquicentennial 1845-1995 and New Vienna Centennial 1895-1995", page 191:??"Gerhard Herman Goedken, born Jan. 4, 1800, Hanover, Germany, married Ann Christina Wilmes (born May 31, 1816, Elsbergen, Germany) in Cincinnati, Ohio. They came to New Vienna before 1848 because their child, Caroline, was born November 10, 1848 at New Vienna, Wilhelmina born 1845 (Mrs. Berhard Bruning), Mary 1847 (Mrs. Frank Knueve) of Templeton; Caroline (Mrs. Joseph Luetner) died Aug. 8, 1875, Anna, Gerhard in Dec. 1857. John married Anna Sudmeier; Bernard born May 23, 1852, died May 30, 1906, Elizabeth Sept. 15, 1860, Maria Agnes April 3, 1856.??Herman died Jan. 19, 1885, and Christina July 19, 1899; buried at Petersburg. "??There is a Joh. G. Godken, age 41, listed in the ship's manifest of the Leontine, Bremen to New Orleans, landing on Dec. 15, 1845. He is listed directly below Joh. Berh. Godken and his family. So I assume that this is actually Gerhard Goedken. His last place of residence is Emsbuhren, Germany and was a farmer. Destination was Cincinnatti.
