Wathen Sr., 83, Arlington Heights, formerly of Equality, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002 at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.??Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Equality. Father Mark Stec will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. until time of service Monday. Vickery Funeral Chapel of Equality is in charge of the arrangements.??He was born Feb. 3, 1919 in Equality to Joseph L. and "Pet" L. (Baldwin) Wathen. On July 2, 1949, he married Florence L. Kutcosky, who preceded him in death.??He was retired from Allstate Insurance Company and a member of Holy Cross Church in Deerfield. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a choir member of Holy Cross Church and Villa Adalarata.??He is survived by three sons, Charles (Marcey Kamen) Wathen, John (Debbie) Wathen and Robert (Lisa) Wathen; three daughters, Carol (Jim) Ludwig, Jayne (Chip) Bromann and Janet (Alfred) Gastfield; one brother, Robert (Freda) Wathen of Equality; and 14 grandchildren.??In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosamond Wathen; three brothers, Cedric, Joseph and John Wathen; and a son, Joseph Wathen.
